Primary Strategic Lead for PE and Sport
Clare Harding

Clare provides strategic leadership in monitoring and evaluating standards of PE and sport in all 32 primary schools across the Trust. Her role oversees how they each use their Primary PE and Sport Premium effectively to make sustainable improvements to achieve the best possible outcomes for all pupils. It is her responsibility to enhance the quality of education so that every school follows an ambitious curriculum, consistently delivers high quality PE through effective pedagogy and assessment practices. She supports colleagues with curriculum development, the delivery of research-informed CPD, quality assurance including the Trust Mark and the full implementation of the primary teaching and learning model to ensure the highest quality of physical education for all pupils.

Clare also ensures that the NPCAT sport offer contributes to wider personal development which includes coordinating the development and implementation of a comprehensive calendar of competitions and events, including the prestigious NPCAT Annual Sports Awards. She has overall responsibility for a team of highly skilled PE and Sport Development Coaches who, on a weekly basis, provide the very best sporting opportunities for our schools and local communities through high level coaching and enrichment programmes like our bespoke Sports Leadership Passport.

The Primary PE and Sport Development Coaches support the NPCAT Sport Vision and Mission of providing world class Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity (PESSPA)  that caters for all and positively impacts upon the lives of our pupils, equipping them with the skills and attitudes that will open up a world of enjoyment, experience and achievement. Working in a cluster of schools, they help improve the quality of teaching and learning in PE, provide high quality extracurricular and enrichment experiences which help our pupils grow in confidence and achieve better mental and physical health that will continue into adulthood and beyond.
